The advantages of panel design

Due to the panel design, its thickness is between 50-100mm, which is a revolutionary improvement for many places with limited installation space.

For example, at the top of the ceiling of the clean room, the overall thickness can reach a minimum of 250 mm when used with FFU, which can leave more working space for the clean room without making the working environment too narrow.

In addition, for some air purification equipment such as clean bench and biological safety cabinet, the internal space is also very limited, and the minimum thickness of the traditional HEPA filter cassette is up to 150mm. If the panel design is used, only a thickness of 69 mm is required to achieve the same air volume. This provides the best space reservation for the design of such products.

Available thickness and frame designs

According to the different requirements of air volume, panel HEPA filters with various thicknesses are provided. The common thicknesses in the market are 50, 69 (70), 72, 80, 90, 96mm, etc. We can provide standard aluminum alloy frames for these thicknesses.

For some unusual thicknesses, we can also provide stainless steel, galvanized frame, or particle board as its frame.

The thickness of the built-in filter element can be adjusted to the overall thickness, from 25mm to 120mm. The thickness of the built-in filter element will be 10-15mm less than the thickness of the frame, which is mainly due to the need to leave some space for filling glue. The glue is poured on four sides, up and down, left and right, which ensures that there is no gap or leakage between the filter element and the frame.

Why mini pleat panel design is a better choice

This will involve the development history of HEPA filters. The traditional HEPA filter used glass fiber as the filter pack and aluminum foil or paper as the separator. But there are always some drawbacks because the glass fiber filter paper is very fragile, which makes it very easy to damage it when installing the separator.

With the continuous progress of technology, most factories adopt minipleat panel designs, and the separator is changed to hot melt glue, which will solidify quickly with the folding of the filter element, and quickly fix the folded filter element into a whole pack. The whole process has a high degree of mechanization and will not damage the filter paper, which makes production have a better yield and faster production speed, saving most of the labor costs.

More flexible installation

If you are considering replacing a HEPA filter and you do not want to replace it too often, you can increase the overall thickness of the filter if the installation conditions permit.

The minipleat panel design offers a lot of thickness, for example, you can change the thickness from 70mm to 90mm if the installation space allows. There are several benefits to this.

  1. More air volume can be provided;
  2. When the running air volume is the same, the resistance of the filter will be reduced, saving you electricity;
  3. Increasing the thickness means that more filter materials are used, which can prolong their service life and reduce the frequency of replacement;
  4. there is no change in the efficiency of the filter in the case of a mere increase in thickness;

Construction design

Extruded aluminum, gal, SUS, particle board MDF, and cardboard framed

In most cases, our factory uses an extruded aluminum frame as the frame of the minipleat panel HEPA filter, which can meet most of the standard thicknesses on the market.

We recommend this material mainly because it makes the production faster and the overall structure of the filter stronger and more beautiful. Of course, we will also have some customers who need other materials as their frames.

Gal, SUS and MDF can meet the requirements of non-standard thickness filters, and SUS has excellent structural strength and corrosion resistance.

A cardboard frame is a popular design for some applications such as air purifiers and other small air purification devices. the cardboard frame brings a more flexible design to the filter that makes the filter quite small size.

Glassfiber or PTFE synthetic fiber

PTFE synthetic fiber is a new type of filter material, which is characterized by its resistance to damage, even if it is directly touched by sharp objects. This overcomes the glass fiber’s biggest disadvantage of being easily damaged.

If you don’t want your HEPA filter to be easily damaged in the hands of customers, you can consider this new material. It is important to note that the PTFE synthetic fiber will have a slightly shorter life than the glass fiber because it is not as good at collecting dust compared with glassfiber media. As for the air filtration efficiency, it can also reach the levels of H13 and H14.
